Topic : Common Paediatrics Malignancies

Task :

·         Please refer to the seminar handout; no need to find a case. The discussion will depend on the presentation.

·         For each group, please prepare slides on:

Group A :

-          Lymphoma : Hodgkin and non Hodgkin

-          Bone tumour : focus on Osteosarcoma & Ewing’s sarcoma

-          Liver tumour- hepatoblastoma

Group B :

-          Brain tumours: what are the most common type in children?-->discuss more on that

-          Neuroblastoma & Wilm’s tumour

-          Retinoblastoma

-          Soft tissue sarcoma-Rhabdomyosarcoma

              Group C :

-this will be the first presentation during the seminar

1)      Epidemiology of malignancy in children in general, signs and symptoms to look out for to detect malignancy in general early in

2)      Leukemia in children-ALL,AML,CML;what is the most common type in children?à focus more on ALL

v  Please discuss on epidemiology, clinical presentation, investigations and tumor/genetic markers, complications e.g tumour lysis syndrome, and principles of management and complications of treatment,prognosis

v  Please put as much pictures as possible
