Hello dear batchmates! :)
On behalf on the convo mag committee, here are the descriptions and explanations behind the 3 themes we've come up with. Remember, if you have more ideas, feel free to email the committee at convomag09@gmail.com!
1. Harddisk of MEDT1/08
What comes to mind when you see "hard disk"? Of course, a computer. :) Following this theme, the convo mag would be designed around the components of a computer, having the idea that all our memories and photos are "stored" in this hard disk. Each section would also have computer-themed names, i.e. the photo gallery would be called "RAM" (random access memory), the contacts section would be called "Connections", and so on.
2. Stealing Memories/Time
As MEDT 1/08, we entered last year's IMU cup as the mighty BANDITS. And what are bandits? ;) We're fast and sneaky--fast enough to steal memories (or time) together and keep them all in the convo mag. The design theme would probably follow a "western cowboy" look, in line with the masked bandits of the wild wild west idea. Sections can be titled "The Saloon", "Sheriff's office", etc.
3. Dream Catcher
When we chose the path to become doctors, there were other dreams and plans that we each had to give up. However, in IMU, the active student life and ample free time gave us the opportunity to express those desires in the various activities held. In traditional North American Indian (red indians lah) culture, the dream catcher was an ornament believed to catch bad dreams and provide a good night's sleep. In our twist of the idea, this dream catcher would catch all the good memories and dreams and plans so that we can look back on them in the future and see that they weren't lost at all. :) Design theme will likely follow a Red indian theme (think teepees, feathered hairdresses, canvas hides, etc).
