Malaysia Medical Student Conference

The 14th Malaysian Medical Students Conference will be held from the 23rd to the 25th of May 2008 in Paradise Sandy Beach Resort Penang. This year's conference will be hosted by PMC.

The theme for this year's conference is Emergency Medicine. There shall be career talks and workshops in emergency medicine The payment details are as following

Before 30th April
RM250 Non MMA MEMBERS
RM200 MMA Members

After April 30th
RM300 Non MMA MEmbers
RM250 MMA members

The reason for th fees difference is because the Society of MMA Medical Students or SMMAMS, formerly known as Malaysian Medical STudents Council and Penang Medical College would be subsidising the early bird applications.

The fees will include accomodation in the hotel as well as all meals and conference package. They are limiting us to only 20 places, to be confirmed by the end of the month (April).

They are also calling for poster abstract submission. There is no fix theme for the poster submission. There shall be no oal presentation. As such, the abstract submitted earlier is important. You can submit posters on any issues. It will be judged by a panel of judges and prizes will be given to winners.

On top of that, the elections for the new SMMAMS committee would also be held then. The contest for the post of Vice Chairman, Hon co-Secretary and Hon Treasurer are up for grabs, however, the hon co sec and vice chair are only for 2nd and 3rd year students as they hold office for 2 years and then serve as senior officer within the EXCO. There are 6 other committee posts apart from the above that are ope, and re open to all students.

Feed back is needed as, the SRC is trying to negotiate transportation and sponsoring the students to the conference with SAD.

However, all students that are sumbiting abstracts will be sponsored by IMU in full.
