Pool and snooker batch announcements

Got to tell you people that today has been a long and tiring day. Not easy watching game after game of elimination rounds. :( ... of eliminating friends..

Anyway, for pool we're down to the final 8 people (guys).
They are (forgive me for spelling errors):
1. Jonathan 5. Murresh
2. Reza 6. Matthew
3. Morgan 7. Benedict
4. Kyle 8. Winner of Ickes and Ash (1 rack elimination)

To determine the winner, a grid has been drawn and is currently with Reza. (best of 3 winner move on, loser out) choosing the final 2 guys to represent our batch will have to go on tomorrow and latest by Monday.

This applies for the girls as well. Only one girl for pool. Among those signed up:
lydia, Izzy, Faye, Shu.
Girls try to challenge among yourselves and decide who will be playing.

Now about worries.
- The members of the pool committe have agreed to have the pool cup beginning next week. Most probably Wednesday onwards.
2 male and 1 female. All are singles matches.

To clarify some doubts about pool and snooker
Since pool and snooker are two different sports, anyone who will be playing pool can (and if are good in snooker) should play for that as well as they will represent our batch.
On a lighter note, others whom have not signed up for snooker may very well try out.

Snooker
3 male and 1 female - 2 males singles and 1 mixed doubles

By the way, there's no captain for either sport so I'm not sure whom to submit the names to.

Also, those who are utilizing the pool table please register as a member (meaning you will have to pay up too) of the pool and snooker club as they cannot maintain the table and organize events if they do not have sufficient funds. Membership is for RM 5.

Finally, everyone in the imu cup, even at practices, be supportive and have lots of fun. Remember we are sportsmen & women. :)

Thanks guys for being very cooperative today. SORRY if you had to wait and stuff. imagine me.. Y was i doing this?? haha. JIA YOU!

This was long.. time to pbl!!!

IMU CUP T-Shirts And Jersey

To my fellow batch mates,

IMU CUP is approaching!! (5th of August)

As Kor Woi had just announced last Friday, we will be designing a T-Shirt for our batch (MEDT108) and a jersey.

However, we need talented people from our batch to help design the T-Shirt. Please help out and submit the design ASAP, preferably by this Tuesday. It is your one and only chance to show your talent! (the whole batch will be wearing your design)

As for the jersey, I need all team captains from the various games to submit a list of names and numbers that will be printed behind the jersey. Each number costs RM3 and each alphabet costs RM2. The jersey will be white in colour with black words. (should be nike brand)

Last but not least, our batch name for this year IMU CUP will be SCORPIO. Please be supportive, you will not want to miss the fun! I guarantee you people, IMU CUP will be a fun and thrilling experience.

MUET result submission

Hi,

Update from AAD : students taking the exam in Oct/Nov will have to submit their results to AAD as soon as they receive it.

Please note that ALL Malaysian students, regardless of whether they are going to PMS/Seremban Clinical School have to take MUET. As for International Students, they have to take MUET only IF they are going to Clinical School.

This applies to students who registered to take the MUET exam while in IMU and have already received their results, but has not submitted their results to AAD yet.

As for students who have yet to take the MUET exam, please remind them to register for MUET as soon as possible before they leave IMU. I assume that they will be allowed to be submit their results later, however AAD has not confirmed that yet, I will update you when I receive their reply.

Thanks!
For any queries, you can contact me at 012-9700063.

Cheers,
Mezhen

Hello everyone,

This is a message from Prof Khoo regarding our Museum Session this Friday. Please take note.

Regards
Lydia

In the same tradition as our first Comparative Anatomy Museum Session
we had this morning where we all had fun gathering facts, we also
embarked on a audio journey into the Comparative anatomy of the
different classes of vertebrates, I've decided that we extend that fun
for one more session this Friday:-

Please tell everyone that each table (total 4) has to have research and
discuss with table members the following (choose one for each table; not
repeatable) :-

a) Theme : " importance of teeth in the field of paleoanthropology"
Members of this table are belong to the National Geographic
Paleoantrhopological Society. These members will share with all of us
your experience, an insight into what you do and also why teeth are so
important in this field. Take about 8-10 minutes

b) Theme : " inter-relationships of fossil hominid types to one another
and to modern humans". Members of the table are ancient fossils. You are
all going to tell us in 8-10 minutes how you all are inter-related to
each other and to the modern humans.

c) Theme : "significance of characteristic craniofacial and dental
features that separate some of the fossil hominid types". Members of the
table will speak up against each other to tell us in 8-10 minutes the
cranifacial and dental features that separte some of you fossil hominid
types.

d) significance of characteristic craniofacial and dental features that
separate apes and modern humans.
Members of the table will speak up against each other to tell us in
8-10 minutes the cranifacial and dental features that separte some of
you fossil hominid types.

This museum session is informally carried out based on some formal
structured themes we think you should appreciate. After this round of
discovery-sharing, we wil issue you some structured study guidelines (as
we did today) for you to work on, then we will wind up with a
continuation of the audio journey into the human world.

Dont wind yourself up too much, you're not being assessed, try and have
fun!

Please tell your friends that everyone should participate.

Thank you.

Regards,

Prof Khoo

Microbiology in Medicine Lecture

Hey guys. I know that tomorrow's notes is in pdf form and that the background is black. So, it's horrible when you print it out. I have no idea if we can change the background but I doubt we can. So, here's the lecture notes in powerpoint!

I hope that the contents is right though. Please check and make any corrections. Well, it is simple but I guess it's better than the black background, right?

Dear ME/DT108,

Welcome to Semester 2!

Hope all of you enjoyed COP and vacation.

Also, don't forget to write up your COP reports! I know that some of you are wondering how much percentage does the COP report carry for your End of Semester 2 exams, I'm waiting for the reply from Dr. Judson, the EOS 2 coordinator to get final confirmation, so I will update you in the next email. Well, whether it's 2%, 0%, - just write up the report the best you can and according to the format given!

Final update - Support your IMU bookstore - all of the books needed for Foundation 2 are available from VK bookstore, and I believe your batch reps have also written an excellent review about the books that you should consider getting for Semester 2. If you have any doubts about the books you need, do not hesitate to consult your seniors!

Cheers,

COP report

Dr Ranjit: COP report accounts for 2% of the final marks.

Academic Affairs Department: COP report doesn't account for any percentage in the final marks. (2008, Ms Kelly Loh, foundation 2 coordinator)

Who to listen to?

Dun listen to anyone, juz do our best in the COP report. We are going to live wif reports for the rest of our lives anyway in future. So i would suggest not to care much about the marks and do our best :)

First Aiders Wanted!!!! (Updated)

Hello my fellow batchmates!!!

The time has come for us to receive 1st aid training already. We would be trained on 1st aid procedures and we would be in charge in training the M208 Juniors during Orientation.

We'll wait for the initial response till school re-opens 1st.. till then Dhina will come up with the rough outline of the course and the equipment requirements as well as the number of sessions for both trainers' training and juniors as well.

things that need to be confirmed are-

  1. The first aid test.. is it a mock or for real? Seriously it depends on us. Cos if we want it 4 real, then we need to meet Dr. Nyut Wai regarding the qns..
  2. We'll refine our course and iron out the smaller details like how often or when we can meet up for training, blah blah blah.. lolz.. we'll first take it step-by-step

Dhinakaran will be the person in charge. For further details, please email him at the_force87@hotmail.com call his number 0123440091. He will be available for phone contact from friday afternoon onwards :)

Summative answers

1st and foremost, I have to sincerely apologize to all our batchmates that we currently do not have a complete set of Questions and Answers. All we have is the answer, which is pointless without the questions.

I asked Dr Sue Chen regarding posting of summative question on the blog and she strictly forbidded it. It is copyrighted and it is against IMU's policy to give students pass year questions.

Although i do not really understand what is in the way in giving pass years to students, however, i shall try and consult the academic department regarding this issue.

Thx for the patience,
korwoi

1. Guards will be serving umbrellas in the Sub basement during rain.
2. Main entrance won’t be having umbrella services because it “affects the view of IMU.”
3. 13 umbrellas will be provided depending on the response.

2. Will be held on 27th Aug, 3rd day after the new SEM 1 Juniors come in.

Complaints from IMU partners about IMU students
- Not prepared in intern sessions
- Not properly attired at most of the time
- Poor communication skills
- Not responsible enough
- Not competent in some learning areas

Solution
- Have to be attired properly before going to Seremban for hospital rotation sessions.
- Have to be well prepared for classes before attending lectures
- Have to learn how to communicate in a concise manner.

Feedback needed for General Practitioners posting
a). Finding GP ourselves?
b). Selecting GPs for posting from a list provided by IMU?
c). Attached in a group of 4/5? Or as an individual?

Communication
1. Batch Reps are required to send emails for each and every announcement.
2. The need to reply Email from all students to make sure that the message is received.
3. The need to log in our blog once everyday after 3pm (for updates).

Solution Based Thinking

Batch Rep
We’ve already voiced out our complaints many times in SRC, SAD and even directly to the Admin about the ridiculous dress code that must be adhered at all times.
We certainly understand that it’s a bit hard to follow the rule, but please try k? There have been complaints from hospitals and Partner Medical Schools that IMU students don’t dress properly and don’t look professional at all. This caused great inconvenience to the school as partner schools and Practitioners threatens to pull out from IMU. We certainly do not want more limited choices of Partner schools in Future rite?

However, I personally believe that the door is still open in future for us to dress slightly not formal in school. But for now, we need to set a good example first to gain the authorities’ trust. We do welcome comments and suggestions from our fellow batchmates. Thank you

Korwoi
